Vitaflo MSUD Explore 5 (30x12.5g):@@: MSUD explore 5 is an unflavoured powdered leucine, isoleucine and valine free*, protein substitute containing essential and non-essential amino acids, carbohydrate, sugar, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, arachidonic acid (ARA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). 

Indications  

MSUD explore5 is for the dietary management of Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD) from 6 months to 5 years of age.

Dosage and Administration 

To be determined by the clinician or dietitian and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient. 

MSUD explore5 (12.5g) = 5g PE

1. The daily protein substitute requirement is given as MSUD explore5. 

2. Additional protein is provided from exchanges of natural protein, to provide restricted amino acids in controlled amounts, which is essential for growth and development. 

3. Foods high in carbohydrate and fat, but low in protein, should be provided to supply the remainder of the energy.

Preparation Guidelines 

MSUD explore5 is taken as a semi-solid spoonable consistency:

1. Add 12.5ml of cold water into a beaker. 

2. Empty the contents of the sachet into the beaker. 

3. Secure the lid and shake well for 10 seconds. 

4. Leave to stand for 2 minutes, allowing a smooth semi-solid consistency to form. Consume with a spoon.  

Water or permitted drinks should be taken after MSUD explore5. 

The product should be prepared immediately prior to feeding and any remaining product must be discarded if not used within 1hr.

Important Notice

Must be used under strict medical supervision. Not suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition. Suitable from 6 months to 5 years of age.  Must only be consumed by children with proven Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD). Diet must be supplemented with natural protein, water and other nutrients in prescribed quantities to supply leucine, isoleucine, valine, fluid and general nutritional requirements. For enteral use only. 

Storage  

Store in a cool, dry place. Sachets are designed for single use. Any unused powder in a sachet should be stored in a refrigerator and used within 24 hours of opening.
