Indications 

PKU sphere is for the dietary management of phenylketonuria (PKU) from 4 years of age onwards. 

Recommended Intake and Administration 

To be determined by the clinician or dietitian and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient. 

Preparation Guidelines 

1. Measure cold water into a cup with a lid (100ml for PKU sphere15, 120ml for  PKU sphere20). 

2. Add 1 sachet of PKU sphere. 

3. Secure lid and shake until the powder is fully dissolved. 

4. PKU sphere is now ready to use. The product should be freshly prepared and consumed immediately. If this is not possible then all prepared product must be tightly covered and consumed within 4 hours if kept at room temperature, or within 24 hours if refrigerated. If separation occurs, re-shake before use.

Important Notice

PKU sphere must be used under medical supervision. Not suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition. PKU sphere is suitable from 4 years of age onwards. PKU sphere must only be consumed by people with PKU. Protein in prescribed amounts must be supplemented to completely meet phenylalanine requirements. Ensure adequate intake of fluid and other nutrients to meet general nutritional requirements. Protein substitutes based on GMP are a source of phenylalanine. For enteral use only.

Storage 

Unopened: Store in a cool, dry place. Opened: Sachets are designed for single use. If prescribed less than one full sachet per day, any unused powder in a sachet must be tightly sealed, and used within 24 hours.
