Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision.
Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre is a nutritionally complete 1.5 kcal/ml ready to drink fruit smoothie style sip feed, with added fibre, for the dietary management of disease related malnutrition in children from one year of age (>8kg in body weight). It is enriched with 1.4g/100ml Multi Fibre, providing 70% soluble and 30% insoluble fibre. Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre can be used to supplement the diet of children who are unable to meet their nutritional requirements from other foods, or it is suitable as a sole source of nutrition for children aged 1-6 years or 8-20 kg in body weight (see precautions).
Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre is available in 200ml bottles, in two flavours; summer fruit and berry fruit.
Directions for use
Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre is best served chilled. It may be frozen or gently heated (not boiled). Shake well before opening.

Infant/child malnutrition and weight loss occurs when the body is not getting enough of the nutrients and vitamins it needs to stay healthy and it can develop if a child stops eating properly, cannot eat at all, or if the body needs more nutrients than normal (e.g. due to infection or disease). Child malnutrition can have an impact on both physical and mental health; symptoms include weight loss, tiredness and a lack of energy.
Children can overcome malnutrition and involentary weight loss or maintaining nutrients by consulting a nutritionist to determin the level of malnutrition. There are various way to overcome weightloss. These include nutritional food with additional nutrients, adding snacks to increase nutritional or energy intake, adding extra calories to food. Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) such as Fortini can be a simple way to obtain extra nutrition. In some cases, additional or full nutrition may be given via a feeding tube.
For enteral use only. ACBS approved, prescribable on Form FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications: disease related malnutrition; growth failure.
Not for intravenous use. Not suitable for infants under 1 year of age. Not suitable for patients with galactosaemia, or patients requiring a fibre free diet.
Due to the fibre content, intakes greater than 4 bottles per day should be used with caution.
Store in a cool, dry place (5-25°C). Once opened, Fortini Smoothie Multi Fibre should be consumed within 4 hours, or stored in a refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Discard unused contents thereafter.

Nutricia oral nutritional supplements Fortini and Fortini Multi Fibre are specifically designed for young children and are, therefore, the recommended sip feed for children over 1 year. Fortisip, Fortisip Compact, Fortisip Multi Fibre, Fortisip Yogurt Style, Fortijuce, Fortisip Extra, Fortimel, Fortisip Savoury Multi Fibre, Fortisip Fruit Dessert and Forticreme Complete, are not suitable for use in children under 3 years of age and are not designed for use as a sole source of nutrition in children under 6 years. However, their use in children aged 3-6 years is a clinical decision which should be made by a doctor or dietitian.
Colouring agents are not permitted in foods specifically designed for infants and young children under 3 years of age. As the Fortini range are all foods for special medical purposes specifically designed for children, we have not added colouring agents. Note: Fortini Multi Fibre chocolate has a ‘chocolatey’ colour due to natural colouring agents.
