Fish Pie Recipe – Fortisip Neutral
Ingredients
- 150-200g / 6-8oz firm white fish e.g. cod or haddock
- 1 egg – hard-boiled (optional)
- 1 tomato (optional)
- 300ml / ½ pint Fortisip Basic White Sauce or Cheese Sauce (see below)
- Fortisip Mashed Potato (see below)
Method / Preparation
- Cut fish into small chunks, remove all bones and skin and place in an ovenproof dish.
- If using hard boiled egg and tomato, slice both and place on top of the fish.
- Pour the Fortisip White Sauce (or Cheese Sauce) over the fish, egg and tomato and top with Fortisip Mashed Potato.
- Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the potato and bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC / 375ºF / Gas mark 5 for 1 hour.

Basic White Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 25g / 1oz butter / margarine
- 25g / 1oz flour
- 100ml / 3½ fl oz whole milk
- Salt and pepper – to taste
- 1 (200ml) bottle Neutral Fortisip
Method / Preparation
- Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour and mix to a smooth paste.
- Add milk gradually, stirring all the time.
- Add Fortisip gradually. Continue to stir and cook over a gentle heat until mixture thickens.
- Season to taste, then serve.

Chef’s Tip
Use this sauce as a base for a variety of sauces by simply adding
extra ingredients at step 3. Some delicious examples:• Cheese sauce – Add 75g / 3oz grated cheese
• Parsley sauce – Add 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
• White wine sauce – Add ½ glass (75ml) white wine
• Mushroom sauce – Add 5-6 mushrooms, chopped and fried
For an extra 70kcal per portion, add 30ml Calogen to the sauce.
