Fortisip Bottle is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision. Fortisip Bottle is a nutritionally complete, high energy (1.5kcal/ml), ready to drink, milkshake style nutritional supplement, for the management of disease related malnutrition. Fortisip Bottle can be used to supplement the diet of patients unable to meet their nutritional requirements from other foods, or used as a sole source of nutrition.
Fortisip Bottle is available in 200ml bottles, with a flexible straw attached, in 8 flavours: Neutral, Vanilla, Chocolate, Toffee, Banana, Orange, Strawberry, and Tropical.
Malnutrition and weight loss occurs when the body is not getting enough of the nutrients and vitamins it needs to stay healthy and it can develop if a person stops eating properly, cannot eat at all, or if the body needs more nutrients than normal (e.g. due to infection or disease). Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) such as Ensure Plus can be a simple way to obtain extra nutrition. In some cases, additional or full nutrition may be given via a feeding tube.

How much Fortisip should I drink?
If you are using Fortisip as a sole source of nutrition or recovering from surgery or illness then it is recommended that you visit your local GP. For individuals using Fortisip as a weight gain drink it is advisable to start with consuming one bottle of Fortisip in the morning which should help increase your appetite. If one bottle is not enough then the dosage can be increased to suit the individual.
Do you have to drink Fortisip in one sitting?
Fortisip does not have to be consumed in one sitting. For those individuals who find it difficult to consume the whole serving at once it is fine to drink Fortisip over a period of time , just close the lid and carry on with it later! Note: it is advisable that once the seal has been broken to store the remainder in the fridge. Although there are no official guidelines on storage after opening, NutriDrinks have found that the product should be consumed within 48 hours of opening. Definitely drink it cold once opened.
Do you have to keep Fortisip in the fridge?
Fortisip can be kept in the fridge although this is not necessary. Fortisip nutritional drinks can be kept at and ambient temperature and usually have a minimum shelf life of 3 months. It is advisable to store Fortisip away from direct sunlight. Fortisip is best served chilled.
Can I heat Fortisip?
Fortisip can be heated to make a warm drink. (Do not allow the feed to boil).Products should be consumed within one hour after heating. Any product not consumed should be discarded. Pour the supplement into a pan and warm through gently without boiling, as boiling may alter the taste and destroy the heat sensitive vitamins.
What if I dont like the taste of Fortisip?
There are many way you can use Fortisip to make it palatable. Fortisip can be used in meals or desserts or you can create delicious smoothies or milkshakes. Fortisip, Fortisip Multi Fibre, Fortisip Savoury Multi Fibre, Fortisip Fruit Dessert, Fortijuce, Fortini, Fortini Multi Fibre, Polycal Liquid, Polycal Powder, FortiCare, Calogen and Nutricia preOp are clinically lactose free (i.e. contain a level of lactose <0.030g per 100ml) and are therefore suitable for patients with lactose intolerance). FORTISIP IS GLUTEN AND LACTOSE FREE.
Is Fortisip suitable for people with Diabetes?
Yes,however it is recommended that oral nutritional supplements should be consumed slowly (over at least a 20-25 minute period) and be evenly spaced throughout the day.It is advised medical supervision and advice should always be sought from a dietitian or doctor on which oral nutritional supplement or tube feed is most suitable to meet individual requirements.
